25/09/18 Papa Tango preparation

Today we prepared for our lesson with Papa Tango tomorrow. Papa Tango is a theatre company who is coming to help us write a one act play. Our play has to be ten minutes long and will be published. Later, a group of actors from Papa Tango will perform our play for us.

The class divided into groups of three or four, I was in a group with Daniella and Katie. We were then given character sheets containing questions to fill out. The first sheet was specific to our own character and the second was to do with character wants or their relation to the other characters.

 As a group we quickly came up with many ideas surrounding the plot of our one act play. I suggested the idea of an assassin as one of our characters and our setting was a high school reunion. The reason that the target was being taken out is that they know something they shouldn't. Katie suggested that it could be connected to a massive government conspiracy theory. We stared brainstorming ideas but we could only think of ones to do with America. For example that 9/11 was an inside job, the moon landing was faked and that the government is run by lizard people. We had trouble thinking of British conspiracy theories until Daniella brought up the death of Princess Diana. Some people believe that Prince Phillip had Diana assassinated. So, we decided to use this theory as what our character has information about. But what do they know? Daniella's character is secretly Princess Diana. We switched our setting from a high school reunion to a costume party because Diana is easily recognisable so other characters would have already known her identity. As we spent so much time discussing the plot we didn't finish our character sheets so we decided to finish them tomorrow.
