4/10/18 Exam prep
Today we continued with our script work (The Trojan Women) in preparation for our exam tomorrow. We rehearsed in the theatre to get a feel for the space we are performing in for the exam. The tech team were also there so we could practice with music and lighting.
After individual rehearsals we worked out the staging for our performance. Each group ran the first and last lines of their piece so the tech people could work out our lighting and music cues. Whilst people are performing the other actors will be sat in neutral at the back of the stage so we can quickly transition between each performance. Instrumental music will be played between pieces to ensure the transitions are clean. We are using warm house lights in flood.
When we returned from our break we continued rehearsal with different prompts. For example: perform the scene as a five year old or in a shy manner. This was interesting because it let us see the scene in a new light. Rehearsing with different emotion prompts also made me rethink certain ways I presented Andromache. I realised I could play around with a wider range of emotions to change the intention of my lines. This helped me strengthen my character and make Andromache more realistic.
I ended today’s lesson feeling positive and well prepared for the exam tomorrow.
